FED: GST could reduce funds for overseas development
CANBERRA, Feb 4 AAP - Australian efforts to eliminate poverty overseas could be undermined
by a GST, a parliamentary inquiry was told today.
Charging a 10 per cent GST on charity membership fees, sponsorships, raffles and other
fundraising activities ran counter to government policy of encouraging private and corporate
philanthropy, the Australian Council for Overseas Aid (ACFOA) said.
